Like many of the other readers, I use automatic writing to channel my spirit guides and as a way of listening. I also use it to talk to them as well. A little exercise I do before I go to bed is I light a candle, meditate, and ask for general guidance. I write for about ten minutes without stopping, or lifting my pen, and see what comes out on the paper. If I have a particular issue I need help with, I address my guides on paper, write down the question before I go to bed and ask for guidance in my sleep. Often times I have a dream that is significant to my question.

Automatic Writing What I like about automatic writing is that I have been able to use it for personal development and problem solving both for my clients and for myself most of my life. Unfortunately, I never had the courage to face difficult issues head on and accept or reject them or ask for help with them. From an early age, I created a character to stand in for myself and used to write stories using her as the heroine of the tale. What was interesting is that I never had to think up a plot. Usually, the action would happen on its own, the heroine would end up in a difficult or seemingly impossible situation that mirrored something that was happening to me in real life. Then, amazingly, another character would arrive with the solution to the problem or with some other advice that was useful to solve an actual problem I was experiencing in my own life. I remember a time when I was having a recurring dream. It was becoming so upsetting that I dreaded going to sleep. This was taking a toll on my health and ability to get good grades in my high school classes. One such class was English Literature, in which I usually had straight A’s but had dropped a grade point to B’s. I considered this a disaster. I was sitting in class, listening to the teacher, pen and paper in front of me. What happened next I can’t explain. I sort of zoned out. Apparently I had taken pen in hand and was busily writing on the paper. I returned to the world when the end of class bell rang. Not only did I remember what the teacher had been saying during the time I was “away”, but there on my desk was a two page story. When I read it, I realized why I was having the recurring dream. I was feeling totally out of control of my life and it had translated itself into a dream of being lost in fog on a lake in a creaky old boat. In the automatic written story, the situation was shown to have started when I gave up my right to some of my own opinions and simply agreed with those of people around me. In reality I didn’t agree with them at all, therefore, I lost control of my ability to be me and was lost in a fog in a dangerous means of transportation, going nowhere. Once I had corrected the situation and decided that the opinions of those who were trying to change me didn’t matter as much as my own peace of mind and ethics, the dream vanished, never to return again. The second type of automatic writing is the type we receive from our spirit guides when a situation arises and we need to advise a client which path to take. Sometimes we go into a semi-trance state and begin writing on the chat room board the advice we are receiving directly from our guides or sometimes we write it down on a pad with a pen and then summarize it for our clients. We usually do the second when we are asked an email question. Automatic writing is an excellent way to do email readings. It’s very accurate and doesn’t waste words. I usually do automatic writing rather than card readings for my email clients unless they specifically ask for the Tarot. Yes, you have to be shielded if you are doing automatic writing extensively. But you have to be shielded most of the time anyway, from negative influences that hang around clients who are attracting very negative energy, are in bad situations or unknowingly involved with evil people posing as friends, lovers or spouses. Shielding is not difficult. Most of us have been shielding ourselves from the time we first understood that we had psychic talent. It’s part of the talent and seems to happen “automatically” also, along with the messages from the spirits and the writing from channels and guides. The messages can’t hurt you. You have the ability to discard them if you think they are nonsense or harmful. Messages sent by automatic writing can do a world of good for clients. This in turn gives us a feeling of accomplishment. Everyone wins.

I have heard many theories as to what automatic writing really is - channeling entities or a product of our own unconscious. Truth is that it doesn't really matter what the source of the information is as long as it is something we can use and benefit from. In many areas we sometimes become too concerned with identifying the source of a thing that we forget the thing itself. If automatic writing helps you to see some things in a more positive light or helps with your problems then accept it as a spiritual tool that will bring you some answers.

Automatic writing is used by many psychics,writers,musicians etc to channel messages from the Spirit realm ... This can come in the form of messages from Spirit guides,your higher self,crossed over entities wanting to make contact,a strong clear message which needs to be listened to... Can be used to assist in writing books,poems,song lyrics,quotes,prophesies, email readings etc ...these messages can be written on paper with a pen/pencil etc,typed using your keyboard... Many times when i am in a face to face reading, i will be led to a paper and pen, which i always keep close by and messages will flow for the client which to me mean nothing as i am being the instrument for the client ....when shared and given to the client they understand this on a deep personal level they needed to hear and answered their inner most questions... I agree with Summer of the importance of protection so you will not attract lower negative energies... Protection is so important with all work connected to automatic writing and channeling...I believe each day its important to always protect yourself from any negative forces ... If you are protected and allow only light to come into your life and not entertain negative energies they will not persist on trying to come through...Many years i have been automatic writing and channeling messages and over time you learn and master to block out negatives... Any one can develop the ability to automatic write and be open to receive messages...I believe that many fear this and this is a really positive guide/tool if accepted and appreciated for the communication and creativity which it can offer...

I start to practice automatic writing long time ago on the beginning of my path,but never received answer in sentence it would come as yes or no...I use too feel very tired after even 5 min writing,and this was a sign for me not to do it... I use pendulum,frames (for dowsing),but answer comes to me intuitively even before pendulum moves...Just to learn it gave me a great experience.
