The Third Eye isn't a real eye in the sense that you have eyelashes on it or that anyone looking at you can see it. The Third Eye is intuition, psychic ability, clairvoyance and all the abilities we read about in all those delightful HOW TO books we gravitate towards if we are interested in psychic studies. Like the Sixth Sense, it is pure intuition, the survival technique we were born with, passed down through thousands of years. However, as Gypsy said in her post here, parents, relatives, friends, teachers, clergy and assorted other people we meet in life, want us to turn off this very helpful and sometimes life-saving ability to see what isn't visible with our other two eyes. We have become a society of electronic gadgets that have been invented to take the place of our slow, plodding intuitive talents. Telephone and email have replaced our ability to contact each other telepathically. Polls take the place of us thinking through who we feel a person is if that person wants to have a part in running our country, our town, our lives. Our Third Eye can keep us safe and out of trouble by warning us that the very trouble we want to avoid will arrive if we don't listen to our inner voice. I was fortunate not to have had anyone in my immediate family who wanted to turn my natural abilities off, although both of my parents were schooled in science and medicine. Many individuals have salvaged their own ability or have had someone in their lives who appreciated their skills and encouraged them. There is nothing very complicated about the Third Eye. It presents itself as a vision of something that will happen in the future so you have a choice to embrace or avoid the event. It screams when someone says something illogical that feels it could lead to danger. It is your very being and survival. The Third Eye allowed us to evolve to where we are today because it acted as an early warning system. Turning it off is like turning off a smoke alarm. Like the smoke alarm example, it must be constantly recharged. Simply feeling what is happening along with ordinary listening and relying on electronic gadgets will keep your Third Eye open and functional. Just taking time with decisions and asking yourself questions like, How do I feel about the new person I just met? or Is this event important, unimportant, dangerous? will give you enough practice using your intuition to keep the Eye open. We evolved slowly, not all in one instant. Re-developing your skill to SEE what is not visible to your regular eyes will take time. The good news is that you don't have to give up your telephone or your email. Our intuitive side is very compatible with modern technology. Hugs.

To activate my 3rd eye i use crystals like amethyst,rose quartz or aquamarine.But this is not for beginners.I use a sound like OM witch vibrates with 6th chakra. And i agree with all my fellow readers already said.

Many people don't even know they have a third eye until they begin to develop their soul path and psychic/spiritual awareness. Kismet is correct. You will notice that if you close your eyes, you will feel a distinct upward shift in your awareness, like a slight pulling from the middle of the forehead. This is where a chakra is located, (indigo) which rules intuition and visual awareness. There are meditations and exercises that can help you open, cleanse or balance this channel to aid in gaining clarity and temperance of the inner/outer selves. Sometimes I use my third eye as a touchstone (simply by closing my eyes) when I feel myself losing ground or getting bothered by disturbing energies around me. I feel that also the third eye has a part in the dreamworld and being in touch with the third eye can better facilitate lucid dreaming. --Aluna

The 3rd eye is located in the middle of the forehead. I use it to tune in to the cards and clients, as well as to what is going on around me.
